What is Prosthodontics?
Pros•tho•don•tics is one of nine recognized dental specialties of the American Dental Association (ADA). The official sponsoring organization for the specialty of prosthodontics is the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP).
Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry pertaining to the restoration and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance, and health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and/or the replacement of missing teeth and craniofacial tissues with artificial substitutes.
A Pros•tho•don•tist is a specialist in dentistry who has successfully completed an advanced education program in prosthodontics that is accredited by the American Board of Prosthodontists and the Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
A beautiful smile, improved dental health, and a boost of self-confidence can all
be accomplished directly from the result of dental treatment. Prosthodontic and esthetic problems can result from genetic and environmental factors. These factors must be properly diagnosed before treatment begins.
At Advanced Prosthodontic Specialists, Dr. Montella meets with each patient
individually. This type of one-on-one care is part of our practice philosophy
and part of our commitment to quality patient care.
An individual diagnosis and treatment plan is based upon the patient’s history,
clinical examination, and diagnostic records. This information enables us to
make informed decisions in determining what type of treatment modality will
provide the best results. Treatment times vary depending upon the severity
of the problem as well as patient compliance. Once treatment is completed, it is
our duty, as well as, the patient’s obligation to maintain the results
